Mortal Kombat Hits PS Vita May 1st, New Kitana Trailer Out

Mortal Kombat Producer Hector Sanchez has shared some fresh Kitana video trailer footage today of Mortal Kombat, which will be hitting the PlayStation Vita handheld on May 1, 2012.

To quote: Developing Mortal Kombat for PS Vita was an incredibly rewarding experience for the team here at NetherRealm Studios.


The ability to utilize the numerous new features available on PS Vita was a very gratifying mission, and we are delivering the best possible on-the-go fighting experience for fans.

Our design team jumped at the opportunity to devise 150 new Challenge Tower missions that incorporate the DLC characters (like Freddy Krueger!), while also integrating the front touchscreen and accelerometer in ways that made sense and enhanced the complete Mortal Kombat experience.

The artists enjoyed creating some excellent new costumes (still to be revealed!), as well as re-creating an iconic MKII arena that integrates the rear camera that will give players the ability to literally Fight Anywhere.
Our programmers worked diligently to make sure the players' experience of Mortal Kombat on PS Vita was pristine and up to NetherRealm standards: fine tuning controls (while adding new controls, such as touchcreen Fatalities and X-Rays!) and displaying gameplay at a smooth 60 frames per second.

With all of these features, two new exclusive modes (Test Your Balance and Test Your Slice) and both ad-hoc (local) and WiFi (intrastructure) Versus mode options, we had an amazing time this past weekend at PAX East 2012 showing Mortal Kombat for PS Vita to fans. We had quite a few fans come back and bring their friends to show them the new features- and to challenge them to some old-fashioned 1 vs 1 Kombat.

It definitely made all of the work and love we put into this version of Mortal Kombat worth it.

Watch How iPad is Made at a Foxconn Factory in China

Wonder how your wonder iPad tablet was made and how the factory looks like?


Apple has given permission to Rob Schmitz of Marketplace to produce a short video documentary of how Foxconn workers in China build and assemble the iPads.

This video highlights iPad manufacturing line and Foxconn’s workers life in general. Despite the average wage of just US$14/day to produce this gadget, many Chinese migrant workers are still flocking to these factories to apply for work.

A series of reports from Schmitz and Marketplace on the “Apple Economy” reveal more about Foxconn and the true nature of factory working conditions in China. Hopefully this will give you some ideas of behind the scenes before this device reached your hands.

TinyUmbrella 5.10.12 Can Save iPhone BBTicket for “Later On”

Semaphore aka @notcom – the developer of TinyUmbrella has just released version 5.10.12 of this program for both Windows and Mac.


This latest version of TinyUmbrella has the ability to save your iPhone’s BBTicket. Some explanation on BBTicket – flashing a new baseband depends on having the correct BBTicket which can only be authorized by Apple and cannot be replayed as we do with APTickets when restoring iOS.

Any attempt to flash with baseband version lower than the one currently installed on your iPhone will fail. You will notice this when you successfully downgraded your iOS but the baseband stayed the same.

He didn’t specifically mention how they plan to use this yet, but he claims that it will be useful “later on.” He also added that BBTickets are stitched together with the SHSH files saved by TinyUmbrella. You won’t see this feature anywhere within the program as it’s done silently in the background. Be sure to check ‘overwrite saved SHSH’ as per notcom’s recommendation.

Somehow I have a sense that when you attempt to do a downgrade next time (assuming it’s 100% possible) e.g. from iOS 5.2 to iOS 5.1, the baseband gets downgraded as well. Now that would be awesome.

Although BBTicket will become less relevant as AT&T has started unlocking iPhones for free, it will still be useful for many locked iPhones locked to other carriers from different countries and for those who have got their unlock requests rejected by AT&T.

ApplenBerry: No Gevey SIM Unlock Yet for iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08 / 4.12.01

After a long silence, ApplenBerry, the official distributor of Gevey SIM, finally made an official statement of the iPhone 4 unlock status which is still actively being worked on by Gevey Team in China.

Their last announcement was made back in February when they said there’s something “promising” for iPhone 4 users who are stuck on baseband 4.11.08 and 4.12.01. However, March came and there was still no news about the unlock. That made their followers furious and posted all sorts of negative messages on their Facebook wall.

Today they’re back again with the following announcement on their Facebook page:

“I understand the confusion people. As of today, our developers have not yet found an exploit that will allow our GEVEY hardware to unlock iPhones with modem firmware 4.11.X and above. Believe me when I tell you, we are working day and night to be the first to bring this unlock solution to market. While it is now perfectly legal to unlock cellular phones, network providers and equipment manufacturers are making it increasingly harder to do so. But when we do finally have it, rest assured we’ll tell the world. Hang in there guys!“

This news would make many people disappointed for sure but if you have an AT&T locked iPhone 4, don’t dismay as it’s possible for you to request for an unlock without paying a single cent. Many users have reported success.

The only “reliable” option for now is the R-SIM IV, which is expected to be launched “soon.”

How to Unlock Your AT&T-Locked iPhone for Free by Contacting AT&T Support

It looks like AT&T have started unlocking iPhones (via Apple) over the weekend. Need to unlock yours too? Simply follow the steps below.

1. Firstly, find out if you’re eligible for this free unlocking service.
2.  Allocate 20-30 minutes of quiet time so that you can speak or chat properly with an AT&T’s customer support representative.
3. Once you’re ready, get your AT&T account number ready and have your iPhone in front of you.
4. Call this number 1-800-331-0500 or login to your AT&T online account to initiate a Live Chat session with an AT&T’s customer support representative.
5. They will ask a couple of questions but mainly will ask for your account information, email and your iPhone’s IMEI number. Go to Settings > General > About. Scroll down to get your iPhone’s IMEI number.
6. If there’s no issue with your account, they will issue the unlock and instructions within a few hours (some are given 24-48 hours). If this is not the case, they may have to do further checks. In this instance, they will give you a ticket number and inform you that somebody will be in touch with you within a week or by April 16th.

7. Once AT&T confirms your eligibility, they will send you the instructions as shown above. Do note that restoring your device with a stock firmware will wipe out your jailbreak.
Think of this as the officially IMEI unlocking which was offered by various vendors not too long ago. Apple is the one who does the unlocking, not AT&T.
