How to Downgrade iPhone 4 iOS 5 Baseband 4.11.08 to 4.10.01 to Unlock with Gevey Turbo SIM

UPDATE #6, 1 March 2012, 9.34AM (+7 GMT): iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08 locked to US AT&T, unlock it forever. Learn more.
UPDATE #5, 13 February 2012, 1.19PM (+7 GMT): To those who are interested on an alternative unlocking method, see here.
UPDATE #4, 25 October 2011, 11.38AM (+8 GMT): Hardware hack for you to consider.
UPDATE #3, 18 October 2011, 7.18PM (+8 GMT): One reader just commented that he was able to do downgrade, but I’m not sure if he did it much earlier. It’s still worth trying, though. I responded to his comment and waiting for confirmation.
I’ll continue to explore other options for everyone. Remember to subscribe or LIKE us on Facebook!
UPDATE #2, 18 October 2011, 11.06AM (+8 GMT): Sorry guys, Apple is no longer signing iOS 4.3.5. This tutorial is no longer valid. To those who managed to downgrade your baseband, good on you and remember to always preserve your baseband.
UPDATE #1, 18 October 2011, 11.00AM (+8 GMT): It seems like Apple had stopped signing iOS 4.3.5 for iPhone 4, I’m testing it now.
Did you blindly update to iOS 5 without realizing the consequences that it will also update your baseband to 4.11.08 that can’t be unlocked with your Turbo SIM? Thankfully, there’s still a way out, at least for now! Hurry before it’s too late! Apple had stopped signing iOS 4.3.5 on October 17, 2011.

Apple is still signing iOS 4.3.5, which means you can still downgrade to this iOS version. It has baseband 4.10.01 that can be unlocked with Gevey Blue Turbo SIM.
Here are the steps:
1. Download and install iTunes 10.4 or earlier. You will need to remove iTunes 10.5 first.
2. Download iOS 4.3.5 IPSW for iPhone 4 from Apple.
3. Put your device into DFU mode (search a tutorial on YouTube).
4. Connect to iTunes and it will say that your device is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
5. Go ahead and click shift+restore (Windows) or option+restore (Mac). Select the IPSW you just downloaded.
6. iTunes will verify with Apple server and begins restoring your device. Once completed you will need the official SIM card to activate it. You can use other tools such as TinyUmbrella to confirm that you now have baseband 4.10.01.
7. Now download custom iOS 5 from here. Reinstall iTunes 10.5 in the meantime.
8. Download latest redsn0w from the Dev Team’s website or from here. Start redsn0w, go to Extras > Pwned DFU. This allows your iPhone to accept custom firmware. If you don’t do this, you will get error 1604, 1600 etc.

9. Connect your iPhone to your computer.
10. Click shift+restore (Windows) or option+restore (Mac) and select the custom iOS 5 IPSW you just downloaded.
This time your baseband will be preserved while running on iOS 5 and you can unlock it with Gevey Blue Turbo SIM.
Again – do it now because once Apple stops signing iOS 4.3.5, you will be stuck forever!
Did it work? Leave your feedback below.
Consider buying us a drink! Never required but always appreciated!

Unconfirmed: R-SIM IV Unlock for iPhone 4 Baseband 4.11.08 Launch in “10 Days”

With so many rumors about iPhone 4 unlock going around, it’s really hard to know which one is true. Here’s another for you, one of the developers behind R-SIM unlock for iPhone 4S, claims to have made the unlock for iPhone 4 baseband 4.11.08.
If this is true, looks like they have beaten Gevey this time. Or perhaps the engineer from Gevey left and made his own team to develop this?
This is already advertised on their website. Under the product description, it says:
“Good News for every people who is stucked at 4.11.08 IOS 5,
The long time waiting is over.
Our R-SIM IV is designed for unlocking it, and R-SIM IV will be available in 10 days.
Now we accept review request from famous site.
Email to sales@eachsupplier.com with the email belongs to your site like XXX@yoursite.com, normal email will be ignored.”
Looks like they’re inviting “famous sites” to review this product. I’ve sent them an email, but no responses so far.
There are no other detailed descriptions about this elusive product. I’m also not sure if it would work on baseband 4.12.01. There’s no date mentioned in the page, so I’m not sure when will the “tenth day” be. What I’m really hoping that it’s not an April Fool’s Day prank!
The recommended retail price is $59.00 each.
We are not endorsing this information but do keep an open mind, who knows this will really make “the long time waiting is over” (a bit of Chinglish for you there…)

Where to buy cheap iPad 2 LCD Screen and iPhone 3G & 3GS/4/4s Sim Card Tray

Here you can buy our iPad 2 LCD screen replacement part, these are used for when the LCD screen on the iPad 2 is damaged or no longer working. Being that the iPad 2 is a very expensive product it’s extremely viable to do repairs on these or for end users to want to do the repair themself. We only stock high quality iPad 2 screens and of course they come with our 6-month replacement warranty. So if you are a repair centre looking for a reliable supply of iPad 2 replacement screens or an end user looking for a screen to replace their dead one these are a great option. Our head tech has written a whole bunch of information below which should be very handy to identify if your iPad 2 LCD screen is indeed faulty, we hope the information is useful for the end user but also repair centres new to doing iPad 2 repairs.

The LCD screen on the iPad 2 is easily damaged if you drop it, step on it or use it as a chopping board (see youtube). Although usually it is the iPad 2 touch screen glass that gets cracked, the LCD can also be damaged. Below we have a bunch of information that is going to help you determine if your iPad 2 LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replaced, if you have any questions after reading the below please feel free to email our staff anytime about further information on our iPad 2 LCD screen replacements.

If you have any of the following symptoms, it is likely that the iPad 2 LCD screen needs to be replaced:

·iPad 2 LCD screen has a large number of dead pixels (black or coloured dots)

·iPad 2 LCD screen has cracked or bleeding image.

·Part or all of the iPad 2 LCD screen is white.

·There are vertical or horizontal lines of white, black or grey pixels on the lcd screen.

·iPad 2 shows black screen but the iPad 2 responds to touch. (you can hear sounds when you slide to unlock etc)

·iPad 2 screen works but is very dark. There are other causes for this problem as well. If your iPad 2 has gotten wet, it may be corrosion on the logic board or the LCD screen connector plug causing the problem.

·Entire iPad 2 screen flickers white or black then goes back to showing a picture. This is usually damage to the iPad 2 LCD screen cable, but this can’t be separated from the LCD screen so an entire replacement iPad 2 LCD Screen is needed. It is also possible that the LCD screen connector has just become loose, so it is worth checking that the iPad 2 LCD screen doesn’t just need to be plugged in again.

·iPad 2 LCD screen is tinged red, green, blue etc. This can also be a fault with the graphics chip on the logic board.

·iPad 2 LCD screen backlight is bright in some places and dark in others.

Occasionally the iPad 2 LCD screen can become faulty without being dropped. The symptoms are the same as above with the exception of the cracked or bleeding LCD screen.

There are also some symptoms that may appear to indicate a problem with the lcd but are caused by other parts:

·iPad 2 LCD screen is has no display and won’t respond to touch. It is possible that both the iPad 2 LCD and touch Screen are broken, but unlikely. Usually a damaged touch screen will continue to function even when it is completely shattered. Plug the iPad 2 into your PC to rule out a battery or dock connector problem. If the iPad 2 is not recognized by the computer and doesn’t display the battery symbol, the problem is the dock connector. If it does display the battery symbol but never boots to the apple logo then the problem is the battery. If the iPad 2 boots to the apple logo but never reaches the unlock screen then it could be a software issue, a battery issue or damage to the logic board. Either way, if anything appears clearly on the screen (battery symbol or apple logo) then the iPad 2 LCD screen is working correctly and doesn’t need replacing.

· iPad 2 screen has cracks but no bleeding or corruption to the image. Usually this means that the iPad 2 touch screen and glass is broken, but the LCD screen is still intact.

·iPad 2 LCD Screen is displaying the image upside down, back to front etc. This can happen after a drop and is usually fixed by restarting the iPad 2. If the problem comes back you need to check that the LCD screen connector is plugged in firmly. This can also happen from water damage.

·iPad 2 screen displays in monochrome or unusual colors. Check accessibility options in settings.

·iPad 2 display gets stuck and won’t change/respond to touch. This is usually a software problem. Restore and update should fix it.
Replacing the iPad 2 LCD screen is not particularly difficult, but it does take patience and care. You need a heatgun to remove the touch screen. If you aren’t careful then the touch screen will crack. There are also a number of components like the power button ribbon cable that can easily be damaged if you aren’t extremely careful, so if you are inexperienced with iPad 2 LCD Screen replacement, watch a few videos on youtube and don’t forget to buy a set of our iPad opening tools to make the job easier.

Apple CEO Tim Cook ‘sighted’ at Beijing Xidan’s Apple Store

Tim Cook, Chief Executive Officer of Apple Inc, was reportedly spotted in Beijing’s business district on Monday, igniting speculation as to the reason behind his unexpected visit.

A photo of Cook walking around an Apple store in Xidan, one of most populated shopping districts in the capital, was first put online at noon by a blogger on Sina Weibo. The photo shows Cook wearing a dark-blue sweater and smiling as he listens to a staff member.

STwing, the blogger, claims Cook arrived at the store at 11am. The news has not been officially confirmed by Apple, but if true, this will be Cook’s first visit to China, a move that was never made by Apple’s founder and deceased CEO Steve Jobs.

The Xidan Joy City store is said to be the biggest Apple store in the world in terms of customer flow and sales volume, according to a report by Netease. Sales of the iPhone 4S soared to 380 million yuan on Jan 13, the first day of its launch in China.

The purpose of Tim Cook’s appearance is still unclear. Insiders claim he has come for a meeting with Wang Xiaochu, chairman and chief executive officer of China Telecom Corp. Others speculate the visit is for the iPad trademark case against Proview Technology.

China Telecom, China’s third-largest carrier, started to sell the iPhone 4S in China on Mar 9 following a contract signed with Apple in February, ending the iPhone combo monopoly with China Unicom.

Too bad I missed the opportunity meeting him, well, maybe next time.

iPhone 5 rumor: LTE and smaller dock connector

Besides 4G LTE, which was rumored ahead of the iPhone 4S, this is the latest such mention of Apple working on a miniaturized dock connector to help make extra room in its portable devices. A report from Japanese Apple-centric blog Macotakara in October claimed as much, with iMore adding to those claims last month, saying the smaller ports were headed to the iPhone and iPad so that Apple could make more room in those devices for other components.

The 30-pin adapter, which Apple uses on iPods, iPhones, and iPads, was originally designed to help make iPods thinner; Apple began with full-sized Firewire ports, later switching to USB exclusively. It’s since become the standard for third-party docks and accessories.

Ahead of the iPhone 4S unveiling last October, the slew of rumors about the device took on a life of their own, due in no small part to the extended wait between models and the growing importance of the iPhone to Apple’s business. Some of the big ones included mention of a complete redesign, the likes of what Apple did between the iPhone 3G/3GS and the iPhone 4, as well as the chance of multiple new models, and tweaks to longtime features like the screen size and home button.

The Apple iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 continue to sell strong despite the iPhone 5 rumor mill churning out new 'intel' about the upcoming smartphone on a weekly basis.

Target drops iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 price until end of this month

Now we usually see Apple drop the price of its current generation iPhone model when the next iPhone arrives, so it is very rare to see retailers drop the price of the iPhone 4S in particular when we are months away from any kind of launch. Target for one has kicked off a sale on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 which will run until the end of this month only.

These are the deals to be had at Target: iPhone 4 (8GB): $74.99 (regularly $99.99); iPhone 4S (16GB): $174.99 (regularly $199.99); and iPhone 4S (32GB): $274.99 (regularly $299.99).

Now this of course isn't that big of a savings when compared to the expensive monthly plans you will be paying the carriers, however that problem applies to whichever smartphone you buy so any kind of savings off the price of the actual phone is good in itself.
