Well, MuscleNerd just tweeted about this news earlier today:
“Looks like that IMEI-based “whitelist” unlock for AT&T USA iPhones got shut down? That was short-lived!“
Many of you who have purchased this service from other vendors might be anxious about this announcement. Thankfully, we only processed a manageable amount of orders. Hopefully, that will go through although we’re still waiting (you’ve been notified via email already).
Does this really work? Yes. When this was made available last year, many got their AT&T iPhones unlocked. However, this time around, only a few “claimed” that they got the unlock. So far there are very few success stories, probably because many are still waiting as the “unlock” timeline is typically around 5 to 15 business days.
CutYourSIM and many small time providers have yet to confirm any success stories at all. Twitter user Rhcp wrote the following:
“I have 700 waiting in queue and none have passed. we are all waiting and all providers are asking. cutyoursim and others.“Amazing numbers but zero success. Meanwhile, CutYourSIM responded to one of their customers: “not yet, still waiting on it.”
The number of people who are stuck on baseband 4.11.08 (and now 4.12.01 on iOS 5.1) is staggering based on the amount of emails we receive daily. Unfortunately, there’s really no other working solution except by replacing the chips and unlocking it with ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM.
Are you still holding your breath?
