What’s the deal with this problem anyway? See the email below which we received from a customer to understand better:
“It was fine when I was using iOS 5, but it started restarting itself every 2 minutes after a few weeks of iOS 5.0.1. I restored it as a new iPhone and started from the scratch a few days ago, but this morning when I turned on my phone after switching it off for the night, it started doing the every-2-minute-must-restart thing. Help me before I smash the phone into pieces!”Thankfully, there’s a quick and easy fix to this issue. Try these 3 steps fix below:
1. Eject or remove the SIM card from your iPhone.
2. Go to Settings > General > Network and enable 3G and Cellular Data (or toggle these if they are already enabled)
3. Insert your SIM card again.
Done! The problem should be fixed by now.
If the above didn’t fix this issue, try to do a full restore and set it up as a new iPhone. Remember to use custom firmware to preserve your baseband if you rely on an unlock.
I’m not sure if this is affecting iOS 5.1 but hopefully this “bug” had been fixed. If your iPhone 3GS reboots itself every 2-3 minutes after you tried flashing it with an iPad baseband, this is definitely a hardware issue. You can try the fix here.
